PHIG Policy Framework v1.2 · Policy 27 · Adopted 1 September 2026 · References: ASF Policy 20; WHO infodemic-management principles; EU Code of Practice on Disinformation (principles); UNESCO guidelines

1. Purpose and scope

The network publishes health information for the public. This policy ensures that it is accurate, sourced, timely, balanced, accessible and never misleading, and that it counters rather than spreads misinformation. Applies to the Board, the Director, staff, consultants, volunteers, experts, partners and suppliers of PHIG and all platforms of its network.

2. Policy

  1. Every factual claim carries a source; “no source, no number”; estimates are labelled; uncertainty is stated; conflicting evidence is reported.
  2. Health advice follows WHO, national and professional guidance; the network never gives individual medical advice and says so.
  3. No sensationalism, no fear-based framing, no unproven cures, no amplification of misinformation even to refute it without context.
  4. Content is written in plain language, accessible (WCAG 2.1 AA target), and in Georgian wherever possible.
  5. Images comply with the Safeguarding, Data Protection and copyright rules (licensed, captioned, no faces of private individuals).
  6. Corrections are made promptly and visibly; a corrections log is kept per platform.
  7. Social-media accounts in PHIG’s name are managed under these rules; personal accounts of staff state that views are their own.
