PHIG Policy Framework v1.2 · Policy 70 · Adopted 1 September 2026 · References: Labour Code of Georgia; EU Work–Life Balance Directive 2019/1158 (reference); ILO guidance on teleworking; Policies 32, 42, 37
1. Purpose and scope
Most of PHIG’s work is done remotely and across time zones. This policy sets the rules that make remote work safe, productive and fair. Applies to the Board, the Director, staff, consultants, volunteers, experts, partners and suppliers of PHIG and all platforms of its network.
2. Policy
- Remote work is by written agreement stating location(s), core hours for availability, equipment, expenses, data security and the right to return to a workplace arrangement.
- Working hours and rest are respected: no expectation of answering outside agreed hours except in declared emergencies; right to disconnect.
- Health and safety at the remote workplace: self-assessment checklist; ergonomic advice; PHIG contributes to equipment where the budget allows.
- IT security rules apply in full: encrypted devices, password manager, two-factor authentication, no work on unsecured networks without VPN, no family use of work accounts.
- Performance is measured by results and deliverables, with regular check-ins; remote workers have equal access to training, information and progression.
- Work from a country other than the contract country for more than 30 days requires approval (tax, insurance and permit implications).
3. Procedures
- Remote-work agreement template; home-office checklist.
Responsibilities
Director; supervisors.
